Hello Readers,
So many people come in and out of our lives, but only real friends leave footprints in our hearts. Friends are trusted treasures who are there for us when we make mistakes. They are supportive and helpfully and at times our armour. Good friends are invincible and help us ward off the blows that life dishes out to us.
True friends accept us for who we are and liven up our days with humour and their honest answers. We at times trust them with our embarrassing secrets. Medical research have found people with friends are far happier and healthier than those without.
Friendships help us to live longer and are good for both body and soul. If we want to keep our friends we have to know how to be one. Spend quality time together if possible, if you live far away then send emails and phone each other each week.
Be there for a friend in good times and in bad.
Don’t keep records of who phones the last time or who paid for dinner, in the scheme of things it doesn’t matter. Notice the small things and focus on the positive, true friends will lift your spirit not make you feel bad about yourself.
Life is too short to quibble over silly things and the older we get the more Friends can also be counted amongst the animal kingdom and we all know of stories where animals have save lives of their owners and family.
For those folk who always seem to attract toxic friends, here is a little advice. Recognise those who are always negative, these people are often depressed and enjoy giving out doom and gloom. Friends who bully you into things that make you uncomfortable are not true friends. Neither are those who use you for their own ends.
Just remember, like attracts like, so if there are many toxic friends in your circle perhaps it’s time to analyse yourself and ask how you can become a better friend to those around you. There are so many people who do not come from large families or they have sadly found themselves alone through circumstances beyond their control. My own family is very small and tight knit and so my beloved and much cherished friends have become my extended family and they have embrace us into becoming part of theirs.
And of course, my precious Lulas and I have formed the most extraordinary bond because we spend and share so much time together, to the point where we are virtually inseparable and we take care of one another, unconditional love. Perhaps some of this resonates with you who are reading this article, because we are not an island, everyone needs someone sometime.
It’s important to have a friend you can talk to, a sounding board, someone who does not judge you nor walks away during your hour of need and who is always there even if it’s just at the end of a telephone.
There is a very famous saying, Love makes the world go around’ and I believe that. True love is unbreakable and will always triumph over everything in the end. To love someone and be loved and to be a friend is the greatest and most precious gift of all.
Until next week,
Love and Light,
Linda and The Lulas xxxx
