Impermanence

Hello Readers,

Anyone who has lost something they thought was theirs forever will one day realise that nothing actually belongs to them. Everything is on loan and borrowed time. We are born with nothing and die leaving it all behind. It is not impermanence that makes us suffer, but wanting things to last forever.

Everything in the universe is transient. All things are here on a temporary basis. Pleasure and pain, friendship and enmity, poverty and wealth , success and failure, birth and death. All is in a state of flux and in a process of decaying. Everything continues to change and evolve and nothing can stop this because time cannot be halted. Don’t make the mistake of clinging to anything nor anyone because this will only bring misery and accentuates your misunderstanding of what the circle of life is all about. The moment you attach yourself to something , you are living with the idea that it can be permanent. Nothing can be permanent, and nothing can be done about it. It is just the nature of things to be impermanent and temporary.

You are trying to catch hold of rainbows. They are beautiful, but you cannot grasp them with your bare hands. One moment they are there and in the next they are gone. Never desire anything because even if you get it, you will lose it. If you don’t get it, you will be frustrated. If you get it and lose it, you will be heartbroken. Either way you will be in a state of misery because you are inviting it through your lack of understanding of how the universe works.

Whatsoever comes, accept it. Buddhists calls it Tathata, Suchness. Just accept what is and live through it silently without being disturbed by it. Misery comes and it will go. Happiness comes and it will go. Everything passes away, nothing abides. There is a shelf life to everything. Continue passing through all kinds of experiences, and then you will learn the wisdoms. Shut yourself off and you will never learn anything.

Nostalgia is an illness for those who haven’t realised that today is tomorrow’s nostalgia. All things that form will eventually decay. Everything that is born has to die. One day it goes away because eventually, everything goes away. Nothing endures but change. Nothing lasts longer than an instant except what which we hold in our memory.

Only the sayings of the wise will remain.

Love and light,

Linda and The Lulas xxx
