HELLO READERS,
In times of great uncertainty, the ability to keep calm isn’t an unnecessary luxury, it’s an absolute necessity if you are to survive. Misery is deeply rooted in fear, an emotion that characterises periods of unrest and feelings of anxiety and insecurity. It’s the cradle of hate, violence hostility and oppression, but there no reason to cry over spilled milk because you cannot change the things that have already happened. All you can do is deal with things in the best way you can.
Even though we may feel that it’s the external world that upsets us, it’s actually the way we think about our circumstances that causes all the problems . Outside disturbances may directly influence our ideas and presuppositions, or trigger what lies hidden in the subconscious mind, but it’s our responses that creates the experiences. The mind is a powerful instrument that is capable of turning fantasy into reality. It can manifest something out of nothing. Our ability to think is the reason why we manage to live in a world that is often hostile for all sorts of reasons, but survive in the face of adversity, we must.
Exploring possible outcomes can be a good thing, but when we overdo things and become exhausted, we can so easily get stuck in the maelstrom of excessive worrying which destroys inner peace and subsequently erodes our confidence. We think about possible scenarios, mostly the worst-case ones, over and over again, often in ways that are irrational and based on assumption and fear of the unknown. We worry about the future and about all the terrible things that could happen which is why it’s important to try to remain as positive as possible, which isn’t always easy, but essential to our wellness.
The universe reveals itself in cycles and waves and unless we have already lived through at least one of these cycles or waves, what happens to us seems unprecedented. If we look at history, we see that most events that disturb us and frighten us have already happened before in another time and in a different life. They just haven’t happened to us in our lifetime until now, which is why they come across as if they have never occurred before.
Wars, pandemics, natural disasters and also tribes threatening to attack each other are constantly happening everywhere, and these struggles often interfere with our inner peace causing disruptive emotions leading to all kinds of illness and strange behaviour, you only have to read some old newspapers of times past to realise that these are archetypical expressions of all ages that repeat themselves over and over again.
Always remember that in any situation, if you react, it won’t change anything. It won’t suddenly make people love and respect you more and it certainly won’t make them magically change their mind to your way of thinking. Sometimes it’s better to just let go and let things be the way they are supposed to be. Allow certain people or stuff go their own sweet way and stop looking for closure, revenge, answers or explanations because the chances are that nothing will really satisfy your expectations. Not everyone is going to understand you and not everyone is worth the effort. There is great power in silence and stillness because only empty vessels make loud noises. Life is better lived when you start taking charge of your own destiny by making your own decisions and doing things your way.
Empires succeed other empires. There is no escape from the rhythm of events, which is why observing life for the past forty years is no different from the past thousand years because you would not see anything startlingly new.
‘Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
And things are not what they seem.
Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul.
Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,
Is our destined end or way;
But to act, that each tomorrow
Find us farther than today’.
Love and light,
Linda and The Lulas xxx
