Hello Readers
Winter is a season in the cold, and a fallow period when you are isolated from the world, blocked or sidelined. You are in a period of extreme transition and have temporarily found yourself in between two very different worlds. Some changes are appallingly sudden, taking us by surprise. Events offer happen unannounced and without any prior warning. We seem to be living in an age when we are constantly bombarded with entreaties to be happy and constantly striving, but we are also suffering from an avalanche of self doubt, forever questioning our abilities whilst worrying about things that might never happen. We are urged to think positively, smile for the camera and dance to the tune of others when all we really want to do is detach, rest and hibernate away from the maddening crowd, the fake chatter and mindless bantering from people who make the strangest sounds and noises that seem to come from nowhere. Winter is not a death, but a time to rest, reflect, restore and rejuvenate. Sleep and self love and care is not a luxury, but essential to our wellbeing. It’s a doorway to a different kind of consciousness, one that vibrates on a frequency that prevents us from hurtling towards burn out. It is an ambulatory process in which our thoughts merge with haunting dreams somewhere in twilight zone during the blackest hours to repair the fragmented narratives of the wretched days when we nearly lost our sanity. In the meantime, we can deal only with what is in front of us at any given moment in time by taking one step at a time until a new dawn breaks when we shall hopefully feel joyful again back in the sunlight. Nothing lasts forever, nor remains the same. Everything passes with time. Never lose hope and always keep your faith.
January is the first of the twelve months of the year. The name derives from the Latin god Janus (Ianuarius), which represented the passage of time and the changes that happen when we are not looking. It is a magical month that opens the doors to the New Year and new beginnings all made up of good intentions, dreams and ambitions. It encourages a burning desire to start afresh by leaving the negativity of previous years behind. Time cannot be reversed.
You have nothing to prove to anyone. After all, who are they to judge? When you are grateful for what you have been blessed with, you unlock countless opportunities to flow in your life from places you didn’t even know existed. In the depth of Winter, you will finally find yourself.
‘Through the chill of December the early winter moans… but it’s that January wind that rattles old bones.
That’s the gift of winter,
It’s irresistible.
Change will happen in its wake, whether we like it or not.
We can come out of it wearing a new coat,
And a different face’.
Happy January and a new era.
