Hello Readers,
One of the most important challenges of our everyday lives is having to make decisions. All our decisions determine our destiny and all our choices carry consequences. Some decisions are very easy to make and we do most of these automatically without really thinking about them very much, allowing us to move quickly forwards and onto the next project. However, there are other decisions that need careful planning and thinking about that require serious thought and often cause sleepless nights.
Change is inevitable and change is good, but it often sounds much easy to accomplish than actually doing because it nearly always involves an enormous amount of upheaval and disturbance. It forces us out of our comfort zones and can often create a sense of panic and anxiety because we then find ourselves facing the unknown and none of us like that feeling of ‘uncertainty’. It takes a lot of energy, strength and courage to take that first step forwards in creating certain changes. I often hear people telling me that one of the reasons they hold back from making a change is because they are afraid of upsetting or falling out with other people. They worry so much about what others think that they put invisible barriers up that prevents them from living the life they dream about and one that is right for them.
One of the best bits of advice I can offer, speaking from personal experience, is to never make decisions at night because it’s the wrong time of the day and you are probably too tired to think straight or focus until you have rested. Sleep on things, because everything always looks different in the morning. The same applies to drafting an important letter or document. By all means, write things down, but look at it again after you have rested or taken some time out, because you are sure to make a few alterations to the wordings. We are all greatly influenced and governed by our environment, which is why I always take my time before committing pen to paper, or giving someone an answer to something very important. All these situations take a great deal of energy and can result in us feeling exhausted and fatigued to the point of just wanting to flop in a chair and be left alone. But once you decide that something is right, there is nothing that can stop you from doing it. The hardest thing about the road not taken is that you never know where it might have led. Be decisive, right or wrong because the road of life is paved with ‘flat squirrels’ who couldn’t make a decision. Do nothing and nothing happens. Life is about making a decision. You either make them or they are made for you, but you can’t avoid them either.
Feeling more confident doesn’t happen when you have all the answers, it happens when you are ready to face all the realities you have been avoiding, secretly hoping that they may just go away. It’s so easy to fall into the trap of always doing what is convenient and living in the same old way in a comfy bubble, not daring to venture out of a familiar comfort zone. Often people will always do the same thing because it’s convenient and a lot less hassle. But whatever you decide and whatever changes you instigate, don’t let it be because you don’t think you have a choice, because we all have choices. You are not a victim of your circumstances, you are a product of your decisions, but you have to do what is right for you because no one else is walking in your shoes. In the end we only regret the chances we didn’t take because we are only ever one decision away from creating a newer and better life for ourselves.
Until Next Week,
Love and Light,
