Hello Readers,
Having a good sense of humour is one of the most important things that have helped me get through life’s ups and downs. As we struggle through life, and as we all know, it can be a struggle, we need to keep a sense of proportion about it. What we do and what we take seriously can often be so far removed for what it is actually all abut that is laughable. We get bogged down in trivia, lost in irrelevant detail to such an extent that our life can whizz past and we don’t even notice. By letting go of things that really arnt important we can put ourselves right back on the right track. The best way to do that is through humour. By all means laugh at yourself, laugh at situations, but never, ever laugh at others, because they are often just as lost as stressed as we are, and they don’t need laughing at, they need cheering up.
We all get bogged down in things like worrying what the neighbours will think, concerns over stuff that we don’t have or things we haven’t done, but none of these things are important. Life is for living, enjoying the company of loved ones, doing things that bring you joy and pleasure, not getting into a terrible state over something that is not worth bothering about.
Laughing at yourself and situations you find yourself in has a double positive effect. Firstly it diffuses tension and helps you let off steam!! Secondly it has real physical and mental benefits. Laughter causes the release of endorphins, which make you feel so much better so that you are able to see things from a different perspective.
There is always humour in everything if you look for it. There have been so many instances in my own life when things looked terribly grim, but once I asked the Universe to point out what lessons must I learn from a particular situation and why I had to experience such stuff happening? I was then able to see the silver lining in those dark clouds.
Sometimes we are required to give close friends and loved ones support during their dark and difficult times, and having us there, by their side can often make the world of difference, especially if you are able to lighten the mood and cheer someone up just by putting a smile on their faces.
Of course, there are people out there that simply don’t possess a sense of humour. I am sure you and I have often met these types and they are very hard work indeed. Whatever comical may be said or something really funny happens that will have the rest of us laughing out loudly, they just stand there, with a vacant, dour expression all over their faces looking unamused and completely bored. These types simply ‘don’t get it’. Never have and never will.
I am sure many of you have heard that old saying – ‘Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone’, and I find this to be very true indeed. You cant beat a wicked sense of fun because love and laughter makes the world go round!!!
Until next week,
Love and Light,
Linda and The Lulas xxx
