Hello Readers,
The best way not to feel hopeless is to get up and do something. If you never try, you will never know what you are capable of achieving. Most of the time it’s not lack of experience that is holding us back, but rather a lack of determination to do what we need to do to be successful. The temptation to give up at the first hurdle is common and so many people fall into that trap. We put so much energy into coming up with excuses why we can’t be, or have all the things we dream about and then go to great lengths designing all the perfect distractions to keep us from fulfilling our ambitions. Imagine how far we would get if we just shut up complaining and used all that fabulous energy to go for it instead?
Failure, rejection and looking and sounding foolish are all things that we struggle to cope with, but life happens, stuff happens and we cannot always control the situations and circumstances that life throws at us, but we are all personally responsible for how we choose to handle obstacles when they are presented to us. A lot of people waste a tremendous amount of time pretending that they are not ready to do some of the things they really want to and create situations to actually stop them from doing so to the point of isolating themselves from other people in the process. Then there are a lot of other people who spend a lot of time ‘getting ready’ and doing nothing instead, chickening out and hiding under the duvet, achieving nothing at all. The good news is that we all know far more than we give ourselves credit for knowing and there is no better teacher than necessity.
Whatever your walk in life, the ability to dig in and not quit when the going gets tough will not only set you apart from many others, it will also set you up for a more exciting, more fulfilled and prosperous life. Adopting that dogged resolve, that ‘nothing is impossible’ attitude takes people to a place that few are prepared to explore and it’s here that life starts to become more interesting, mainly because it gives you the opportunity to connect with other positive, like minded individuals.
Whether it’s an on online dating profile you are not ready to post or a holiday you want to book, or shed a excess pounds so that you fit into all those beautiful glamorous clothes or a business you want to start as soon as you have saved up enough money, rather than just talking about it, just start doing it now!. Do whatever it takes because life is not guaranteed and you could get run over by an ice cream van tomorrow.
Procrastination is one of the most popular forms of self-sabotage because it’s really easy and there is no lack of other people who are totally psyched to procrastinate with you. And while delaying stuff and making tons of excuses is all well and good, if you are not careful, you will find yourself sitting there in a few years’ time feeling like a total loser wondering why your never got your act together and why other people you know are getting big fat pay rises, promotions, dream houses, taking trips around the world and talking about all their latest new ventures.
If you are serious about changing your life, you will find a way. If you are not, you will find an excuse. The world is your oyster.
Until Next Week,
Linda and The Lulas xxx
